Sanzaru Games’ latest developer diary, released this past Thursday, offers fans a yet another look into the world of ‘Asgard’s Wrath 2’. Oculus Studios Senior Producer, Mari Kyle, returns once again, this time to delve into the Mortal Heroes and Animal Warrior Followers that players will encounter in the game.
Mortal Heroes with Unique Playstyles
The sequel introduces a full cast of heroes, each with their own distinct playstyle. Players will start with Abraxas and will later meet other characters like Alvilda, a rogue-type ranger, and Djehuty, an undead scribe. Each hero possesses unique weaponry tailored to specific tactical strengths. For instance, Cyrene, a river naiad, is designed around fluidity and movement, contrasting with Abraxas’s strength and defense. Her arsenal includes living weapons like the Seething Jellix and a harp that doubles as a shield.
Followers Are More Than Just Sidekicks
Asgard Wrath 2’s Followers have received an upgrade over those from the Oculus Rift original, with improved AI and a new Synergy system. This ensures that Followers are always in sync with the player’s actions during combat. Among the new Followers, players will meet Subira, a panther companion, and Pa’akhet, a former hunting falcon. Each Follower has unique abilities that can aid players in combat, puzzle-solving and more. For instance, Subira’s shadow-shifting ability allows her to manipulate Kivuli Stones, while Pa’akhet can summon whirlwind blocks for navigation.
A new feature, Follower Inspiration, has also been introduced. As players fight, they inspire their Followers, filling up an Inspiration gauge. Once full, players can unleash it to empower both themselves and their Followers with special abilities.
Additionally, every Follower can now transform into a mount, aiding players in traversing the expansive maps of ‘Asgard’s Wrath 2’. For example, Subira can transform into a massive panther, while Pa’akhet can morph into a bird.

Asgard’s Wrath 2 emphasizes customization, allowing players to tailor their own combat experiences. Skill points can be used to buff Followers and unlock different finishers, ensuring that each player’s journey is unique.
Mari Kyle concludes the diary with a final tease, “With all these different characters in the shape of Mortal Heroes or Followers, we really wanted to think about all these different variations so that you can really tailor your combat and your Asgard’s Wrath experience to your own play style and needs. I can’t wait for you to explore them all this winter in Asgard’s Wrath 2.”
Fans can look forward to another deep dive next month, which will explore ‘Asgard’s Wrath 2’s’ various RPG systems, including crafting, cooking, hunting, and fishing.
‘Asgard’s Wrath 2’ is set to launch on December 15 and will be included with every new purchase of Meta Quest 3.
