It’s been a while since our last VR Modding Monthly, so we have a LOT to catch up on! Strap in, there’s so many incredible things that’s been happening from our amazing Flat2VR community the last few months! If you’re unsure what the Flat2VR community is, read our first issue where we introduce ourselves!
Praydog’s UEVR – A Tool That Adds 6DOF VR to Almost Every Unreal Engine 4 & Unreal Engine 5 Game
The big question that we get asked more than any others recently is “when is Praydog’s UEVR mod coming out??”. Unfortunately, the only answer that he can give right now is still “sometime this year” (which, even if that were December 31, 2023, is not that far away!). So “soon!”
UEVR is insanely ambitious. In just about 9 months, Praydog has gone from this crazy idea of creating a Universal Unreal Engine VR mod and has evolved it to getting full 6DOF VR working in almost every Unreal Engine game, then additional rendering systems that make stereoscopic work when even Unreal Engine’s official solutions won’t work on certain games, then adding head based aiming, thousands of fixes, quality of life additions, optimizations to make performance better, to more recently figuring out a way of adding motion controls and full roomscaling.
What Praydog has accomplished already is beyond what anyone thought possible and has the potential to completely disrupt the PCVR space. It could also lead to more developers officially adding VR support to their games as they have a way of rapid prototyping their games in VR and getting an idea of how it might work. Sometimes when I actually see these worlds in VR and how the games work so well, I think “how could anyone witness this and be okay with NOT bringing their games to VR officially”
If you want to learn more about UEVR, we did a Q&A a couple months back, there’s a bunch of videos on our Flat2VR Youtube like
and you can see hundreds of videos showcasing different games with UEVR on two of our private tester’s channels here and here.
We also have a spreadsheet of games we’ve tested so far (though it needs to be updated with a few hundred more we’ve tested recently!)
P.S. If you want your brain to explode, here’s an article that Praydog recently wrote explaining some of the techniques that he’s using when creating UEVR
Farcry 1 VR With Full Motion Controls
Renowned developer / modder cabalistic, best known for their work as the lead developer on Half-Life 2 VR, blessed us with Far Cry VR a few weeks ago! The mod includes full motion controls, 6DOF roomscale movement, bHaptics vest support, physical swinging with melee weapons & more!
Far Cry is a game that has held a special place in the hearts of many and playing it in VR feels like it was how it was always meant to be played in VR.
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to revisit this iconic title or if you’re looking to dive into its world for the first time, there’s no better moment than now. Gear up and step back into the classic with a fresh, immersive twist!

Portal 2 VR Mod
Modder / Developer Gistix has been hard at work developing a Portal 2 6DOF VR mod with motion controls!
Soon, players will be able to test their puzzle solving skills (and for some, VR legs) in glorious virtual reality.
Whether you’re playing with a friend in its incredible co-op campaign or its separate full single player campaign, Portal 2 is one of the best games ever made and is such a treat to experience in VR. In addition to its meaty amount of content, there’s thousands of custom levels to play through (some with very VR friendly level design that doesn’t have you flying through the air).
The mod doesn’t have an exact release date, but will release in beta very soon. Join the Flat2VR.com Discord for updates.
7 Days to Die VR Mod Out Now!
KaalibaVR & Necro have worked incredibly hard porting 7 Days To Die to VR with full 6DOF VR, motion controls, VRIK, multiplayer support, physical melee support & more! Their hard work has paid off, because playing 7 Days to Die in VR feels like how it was made to be played.
Survival games and VR are such a good fit together. Even with the amount of jank The Forest VR it had, memories of sitting around a virtual campfire with my irl brothers, just chatting and working to survive the night are still some of my all time favorite VR memories. Even looking back, our time together playing The Forest VR feels like some epic camping trip adventure that we actually took together.
I can’t wait to make new similar memories with 7 Days to Die VR soon!

Amnesia VR Remake!
Deesice painstakingly remade the original game from the ground up in Unity with updated visuals last year and is now adding VR support! He’s been hard at work adding some HUGE VR updates to proper hand poses with whatever you pickup and interact with in the game.
The VR remake is scheduled to release this Autumn and will be free!
Street Fighter 6 & RE4 VR Mod Released!
Praydog released an update to his RE Engine framework mod to fully support the newly released & highly rated Street Fighter 6 and the fantastic and highly rated RE4 Remake.
For the RE4 Remake VR mod, you can play the entire game in third person, 6DOF VR. Praydog has also made a first person mode similar to his other mods, but is waiting until after the official version for PSVR releases first.
Battlebit Remastered VR Mod Coming Soon!
AttackDev4000 has made some incredible progress on a BattleBit Remastered VR mod that will allow both Flatscreen players & VR players to play together in huge, epic battles. The mod features full 6DOF roomscaling, motion controls and more!
The BattleBit devs have been wonderfully support of this project and have even officially added custom modded server support so that this mod can work online.
The BattleBit VR Mod doesn’t have a release date yet, but keep up with it in the Discord!
Luke Ross’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy VR, & Far Cry 6 Mods Released!
Luke Ross has been quite busy bringing us 3 new meaty AAA games to VR. The Uncharted games feel as if you’re in an action movie. Far Cry 6 is absolutely stunning in VR and is a massive solo or co-op playground to play through the story, go fishing, race around in boats, take on contract missions and anything else you want to do!
The mods feature full 6DOF VR (no motion controls), head aiming, his AER 2.0 tech, co-op multiplayer support and more!
Subnautica: Below Zero VR Mod With Motion Controls Out Now!
Jbusfield ported Okabintaro’s SubmersedVR to the Subnautica sequel, Below Zero, to give that game full motion controls too!
(Video is from CharlieDelta’s great guide on setting up & installing SubmersedVR for the original Subnautica)

AudioSurf 2 VR Mod Released!
Before Beat Saber, there was a VR rhythm game called Audioshield. Before Audioshield, there was a flat game rhythm game by the same creator called AudioSurf 2 (which was debatably the superior game)
It’s time this gem got VR support too! Holydh brought full 6DOF VR support to AudioSurf 2. It’s a lot like Thumper if you’ve ever played that in VR. You’re a ship and you need to move to the rhythm of your favorite songs.

I wouldn’t sit on UEVR releasing by end of year. The fact that Praydog hasn’t announced a more precise date or update to the vague end of year timeline even now, so close to end of year, isn’t exactly promising. Hopefully it comes out by then though so we don’t have to wait as it definitely warrants the hype from what we’ve seen shown and heard.
You should believe it because that’s the release date Praydog gave (and we’re working with him on it). He’s never given a reason not to trust his timelines.
This is fantastic, please keep doing more of these updates! There’s so many mods that I need to check out!
Have fun! Glad the article was helpful!
